Oil, NASA, business-friendly policies. Among the slow recovery of economy, the city of Houston now is drawing attention for something else: its job market. For realtors and house sellers, a growing job market also means a housing boom. Waiting for the market has finally paid off. Danny Frank, chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), said that the housing market of the Bayou City is in its 25th month of the largest volume ever. “Part of that is the job market in Houston and the surrounding area. Without jobs, you can’t have houses and without houses, you can’t have jobs,” said Frank. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Houston gained 95,800 new jobs from October 2011 to October 2012, the highest job growth rate of the top 20 most populous US metropolitan areas. All the municipalities around Houston are bustling due to the area’s business-friendly environment, Frank said.
